Yo-kai Watch, the game by Level-5 that’s releasing on November 6th for Nintendo 3DS is really a new experience. You’ll really feel like you’re right there in the world of yo-kai!
The main objective in Yo-kai Watch is of course to befriend awesome yo-kai friends and team up to clean up the town of mischievous or harmful antics of other yo-kai and demons; but the world itself is also deep and rich, you’ll find that there’s so much more to do than just enter battles and make new yo-kai friends. There are tricks and secrets around every corner, literally! You’ll have a lot more freedom to wander in Yo-kai Watch than you may be used to in other games! The world is your oyster!
The town and surrounding areas are quite vast while also feeling connected and natural like a real town would. Sometimes you might just find yourself walking around exploring all the scenery for the sake of sight seeing, sneaking through doors and gates, and chit chatting with inhabitants and hidden special yo-kai friends. You’ll also eventually earn a bike to use to get places faster. You’ll be catching bugs, fishing, finding walls you can walk on that are shortcuts and can even lead to hard to reach treasure boxes (and new ones can appear every night!), caves and alleys you can sneak into and encounter different types of yokai that may prefer to stay hidden in the shadows, secret doors that unlock once you reach a new watch rank, and a seemingly endless availability of side quests and errands you can help with for your neighbors who are always willing to repay your helpfulness with useful items.
Have you ever wanted to explore your school after hours when no teachers are there to tell you to stop running in the hallway? You’ll totally get your chance! Don’t be scared, you’ll have your yo-kai friends and trusty Yo-Kai Watch with you! Have you ever wondered what all these yo-kai do at night when you’re sleeping? You’ll find that out too! Sometimes you also might end up facing a big oni demon that you’ll need to sneak past, but Whisper will be there to help guide you!
Did I mention you can even explore the sewer system? Hahaha, exciting! ;P It really is like a whole real town, and it’s all yours. Check under every vending machine and car in the city too, there are secrets, friends, and items hidden everywhere. Most people just walk past as they go about their day, but not you! You’re an explorer and experimenter with yo-kai! I wonder what happens if you buy 20 sodas from the vending machine in a row? Maybe something special will pop out! Try it and let me know!
There’s just one more super secret place I won’t tell you about, you’ll definitely see it near the end of your quest, it’s so beautiful you’ll wish YOU were a yo-kai too. By the end of your journey you really won’t want to leave, so it will be great news to you that you’ll get to explore this world again -and beyond!- in the sequel games!
I can’t wait for you to meet everyone in town on November 6th! Let’s all meet up at the park near your house! Don’t be late!
